Do you have digital dinosaurs in your closet? The Friends of the Library are sponsoring a Recycling Event for all out-of-date technology items. Bring those dusty dinosaurs to the Library parking lot on this day. Friends will collect used desktops, towers, PC's, laptops, keyboards, printers, phones (cell and landline), etc. All proceeds will be used to benefit our Library's Adult and Children's programs. Please make every effort to remove your personal and private information from your old devices. The Friends will not assume responsibility. PLEASE NOTE: Old TVs and Monitors will not be accepted on this day. These items can be brought to Highland's Hazardous Waste Event in October. Update: Here is a complete list of items that will be accepted: --Computer towers...whether they have all components inside or missing some --Laptops: whether complete, missing battery, or have broken screen --Internal components of towers or laptops:CD ROM/floppy drive, power supply or hard drive, Motherboard, Memory/RAM, processor. -Anything inside a computer --All types of circuit boards --Cell phones/office phones --Speciality batteries: lithium ion laptop and cell phone batteries, Nickel Cadium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal- Hydride (NiMh usually come from older styles cellphones from the 90's and later). Also power tool batteries. --Printers, Copiers, Fax Machines --Keyboards, Mice --Modem, Routers, Network Switches --Cable boxes --UN-interrupted power supply (UPS) and battery backups --Ink and Toner cartridges --All cords, plugs, connectors, AC adapters from the electronics --Laptop docking stations --Servers --DVD and VHS players, radios and stereos WITH STEEL CASING.
