Solar Eclipse

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Highland Township Public Library
Community Room - Lower Level

Event Details

A drop-in event! Eclipse starts around 1:10pm. Maximum obscuration (80%) around 2:20pm. Ends 3:45pm. We will have safety glasses and telescope filters available for SAFE VIEWING. Please do not ever, ever, ever stare directly at the sun! How to tell if your eclipse glasses are safe.
This year's solar eclipse will be visible across the US. Technically this is a TOTAL Solar Eclipse, but in Michigan we will only see PART of the sun obscured (we won't go totally dark here). Click here for more info and a map of where to go in the US if you want to see the 2017 eclipse In Totality. But our event here, a partial eclipse, is still going to be pretty fun! Here's another great map from NASA!
Please note: this event will take place rain or shine - we'll have lots of activities even if it is cloudy, and we'll live stream the eclipse from a sunnier place.
We are OUT of safety glasses to hand out right now. We WILL have more glasses during our eclipse event on Aug 21, 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
